Every month our Norwegian client would spend an entire week completing monthly commission calculations for agent statements. While manually extracting sales rows and deal amounts from four different files, completing just one agent could take two hours. We fortunately had the opportunity to work with this Norwegian insurance agency to build Cocentives. Now creating agent statements is only an hour expenditure for the agency. Cocentives completely removed the inevitable monthly bottleneck which is required every month.
When we first talked with this insurance agency in Norway about their desire to increase productivity, I instantly saw that commission calculations were a major bottleneck. What we were presented was a 100+ page PDF file which contained sales records which then the firm leader went through every month to calculate the numbers. This PDF file was one file in a collection of multiple files from different sources which all in the end went into a final agent monthly statement. Then repeat this for all agents. Our rough time spend estimate for their manual methods was a few days, up to a whole week.
We dug in and created a solution which took their entire monthly file collection, analyzed it piece by piece, until the system completed all of the calculations for all agents, giving every agent their statement on time with consistent, automated processing.
The magic of this experience for us is that this problem was completely engineered away through our product. Through iteration, we created a system which in a matter of the sequence: upload, review, store, send, the system end to end took at max 30 minutes to complete an entire month of commission calculations.

Saving 4-5 days per month (nearly 60 days per year) created capacity for growth. With commission calculations automated, the agency leader could allocate time to recruiting agents and scaling operations instead of manual data processing.
The growth occurred alongside improved accuracy. Every agent received accurate statements on time, and the agency scaled from 40 to 54 agents while maintaining this consistency.

Downstream benefits of system
